Senior Technical Professional - Mechanical
Senior Technical Professional - Mechanical, KBR Technical Services, Inc., Newark, DE:
Provide design, specification, selection, and interdisciplinary design coordination services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems. Function as mechanical work group lead for large projects (typically greater than 2,000 engineering hours for the mechanical discipline). Develop work hour estimates for project phases, Risk Memos for department manager review and approval, and prepare safety design checklists. Evaluate the design’s overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and provide technical oversight/ coaching and mentoring for support engineers. Review and approve specifications and data sheets prepared by support engineers. Review and approve technical bid evaluations of mechanical equipment and subcontracts. Review and approve the mechanicals basis of estimate to support project cost estimates. Provide construction support and conduct project design audits. Review and approved “Issued for Construction” documents such as document index, scope of work, and equipment arrangement drawings.
Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 4 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.
Must have 4 years of experience in the EPC industry and/or chemical/biofuels operating companies.
Must have 2 years’ experience in all of the following:
- Working with 2D and 3D equipment layouts and development of equipment arrangement drawings
- Utilizing NAVISWORKS to facilitate equipment design coordination tasks; and
- Working on highly complex process equipment packages while taking ownership of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, module design / layout, controls, and equipment design specification and selection with the selected supplier’s team.
Must have 1 year of experience in Solidworks.
International travel required up to 5%; Domestic travel required up to 20%
