Job Description:
Seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join our expanding DevSecOps (DSO) team. This new role provides critically needed support to the DevSecOps/Middleware team, working as part of the Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) contract. This role works in unison with several matrixed teams across client and contractor organizations. This role regularly interfaces with clients, software developers, and software engineers and functions as a primary technical point of contact and must be experienced and comfortable in a client-facing role. This role frequently functions as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders and is expected to facilitate collaboration and communication between stakeholder groups (e.g., during cloud intake process meetings, translating technical progress/milestones to Deployment Managers (DMs) and application owners).
The ideal candidate for this role possesses a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to work both in a self-directed manner, and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will also have prior practical experience establishing and documenting technical processes.
General Duties and Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Serve in a client-facing role and regularly interacts with multiple stakeholders. Strong verbal communication skills and meeting etiquette is required.
- Provide support to new clients coming into the CI/CD pipeline and DevSecOps process.
- Contributes to the completion of major engineering programs and may function in a project leadership role.
- Develop solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems of advanced scope and complexity.
- Manage multiple, high-priority projects, tasks, and deadlines and shift focus as necessary to meet due dates.
- Perform highly complex systems design, development, and integration form the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
- Oversee highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Perform highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Perform continual maintenance and provides highly complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems.
- Prepare and maintain a wide range of documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
- Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and works with management to evolve current processes.
Technical Skillset:
- 4+ years’ experience as a DevSecOps developer or Systems Engineer who develops and manages the CI/CD pipelines of a wide variety of applications.
- Ability to act as a liaison between Application Owners, Application Developers, and multiple supporting teams, such as Cloud Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Security Engineers, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple applications.
- Ability to manage, maintain, and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines within GitLab.
- Experienced in providing DevSecOps implementation using Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Ability to work with AWS via console and command line.
- Ability to configure and deploy Kubernetes clusters, practical experience with AWS EKS and comfort with kubectl commands preferred.
- 3+ years’ practical experience with infrastructure as code deployments, Terraform experience preferred.
Technology Stack Requirements:
- CI/CD experience: Gitlab, GitHub, and Jenkins (2-3 years of practical application in an organization)
- AWS (2-3 years of practical application in an organization)
- RHEL (5+ years of practical application in an organization)
- Kubernetes/Docker (2+ years practical application in an organization)
- EKS deployed on Fargate (experience desirable, but not required)
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of relevant Computer Science/Information Technology experience
- Highly proficient problem-solving ability
- Strong written and verbal communications
- Ability to explain technical information in an understandable way to non-technical clients
- Ability to apply principles of process improvement & best practices in process documentation
- Ability to independently provide direct support in a client-facing role
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certifications (Certified DevOps Engineer)
- Kubernetes Certification (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)
The likely salary range for this position is $123,250 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
