Do you want to be part of a Data Management Team under Architecture team driving data management solutions for a leading financial firm? At Schwab, the Data and Rep Technology (DaRT) organization governs the strategy and implementation of the enterprise data warehouse, Data Lake, Customer Data and Analytics and Customer Service Technology platforms. The organization’s mission is to drive activation of data solutions, rep engagement (Sales, Marketing, and Service) technology, and client intelligence to achieve targeted business outcomes, address data risk, and safeguard competitive position.
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Management lead to drive the design, development, maintenance and governance of Enterprise Data Models, deliver solutions and best practices to streamline end-to-end data observability, and identify opportunities to strengthen data classification solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise transactional and analytical systems data modeling, database design, data integration patterns, metadata management, and data governance tools. This role will work closely with the business, architecture, development, operations, and security teams to develop and evangelize the data management practices.

- Leading the design, development, and maintenance of Enterprise Data Models.
- Analyzing business requirements and designing both transactional and analytical databases.
- Evaluating data processing pipelines to identify opportunities for better data organization, enhancing reusability, and minimizing duplication.
- Designing comprehensive metadata capture solutions to enhance data visibility for consumers.
- Researching and evaluating metadata management tools.
- Driving the implementation of robust data classification solutions and fostering trust in data integrity.
- Mentoring junior team members on industry best practices in data management practices.
- Collaborating, influencing, and building consensus through constructive relationships and effective communication.
- Understanding short and long-term goals and objectives of the organization and recommend pragmatic technical solutions and services.
- Bringing a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal technology communities, and mentor other members of the team
- Managing and keeping metadata current and enabling data security governance.
- Leads in a fast-paced environment and produces high-quality work under tight deadlines
What you have
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data modeling (logical and/or physical) with a focus on 3NF and Star Schemas
- Substantial experience in designing Transactional and Data Warehouse databases with strong understanding of data integration patterns
- Expert level experience in metadata management and related technologies.
- Proficient in SQL and Modeling tools like Erwin.
- Minimum 1 year of Hands-on experience in Google Cloud, especially BigQuery, Data Catalog
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, decision- making and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in researching industry trends and evaluating data management technologies.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Functional knowledge of financial banking, stock brokerage or insurance domains is preferred
- Critical-thinking and strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data
- Attitude that fosters a culture of collaboration and teamwork
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and with cross-functional technical and business teams
