Summary:
The CNC Machinist sets up and operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform machining operations including milling, lathes, large horizontal and vertical lathes.
Responsibilities:
Actively promote and participate in advancing the safety culture of the facility.
Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
Locate and download programs from a DNC storage system.
Interpret work instructions.
Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations being performed.
Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum and bronze
Read, understand, edit and/or write programs.
Understand capabilities of tooling and machinery.
Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
Adhere to all Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures.
Seek out and participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities.
Set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.
Create and maintain a team focused work environment.
The Ideal Candidate Possesses the Following Experience, Skills, And Abilities:
One year Machine Tool Operation certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges,
Mathematical Skills:
The ideal candidate can work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
