Overview
Central Utility Plant Watch Engineer.
The Watch Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment in the chiller/power plant as well as the building operations per site requirements. The Watch Engineer reports directly to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for all associated reports involving the equipment in the main chiller/power plant. This position requires a DC 1st Class or a DC 3rd Class with experience working at a 1st Class plant and qualified to sit the DC 1st Class license.
Salary
$44.00-54.00/ hr. depending on experience, plus Local 99 health and welfare benefit.
Responsibilities
- Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors
- Perform water treatment readings on CUP equipment.
- Perform work order and PM tickets on clients AiM work management system.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks such as but not limited to sweep/mop CUP floors, hanging whiteboards, moving furniture, replace ceiling tiles, clean CUP equipment coils and change filters.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists on equipment such as boilers, chillers, AHUs, DOAS.
- Inform the Chief Engineer of all pertinent problems, irregularities, and other important information within area of responsibility.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
- Maintain specialized HVAC equipment and machinery found in various commercial buildings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- MUST have a DC 1st or 3rd Class Engineer License. 3rd Class working at a 1st Class plant.
- Member of IUOE local 99 or willing to join
- Valid driver’s license
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Regular, dependable attendance
- U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
- Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
- Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
- Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
- Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions.
