Overview
The Controls Technician will be responsible for Building Automation Systems (BAS) monitoring, programming, and troubleshooting of site-wide control systems. This position will be responsible for various automation systems monitoring/alarm management, incident coordination, system diagnostics, programming, and system maintenance. Additional support for DI Water Plant, Security, and fire systems as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with electronic and pneumatic controls systems and components to maintain HVAC comfort control in buildings. Resolves issues with building Automation systems, to maintain operational uptime with HVAC and industrial process systems.
- Leads work teams across multiple maintenance disciplines to resolve complex technical control system problems.
- Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates controls and sensors to prevent failures and to keep the building HVAC equipment operating at optimum performance for maximum energy conservation. Troubleshoot, repair and replacement of VFDs used on Fans and pumps.
- Troubleshoot, repair and replacement of VFDs used on Fans and pumps.
- Renovates and upgrades control systems to provide efficient operation of HVAC equipment and improve building comfort.
- Writes & modifies program code; creates program code in a logical manner that is easily understood by others. Troubleshoot Control logic and update graphical user interface.
- Controls equipment monitoring and management, including sustaining operations, maintenance, and process & equipment improvements.
Education and Training:
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in HVAC, Computer Science or Computer Science related field and three years field experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Computers. 5+ years’ experience with building automation systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of industrial process controls and field instrumentation
- Experience with Siemens Design building automation is desired but experience with other control manufacturers such as Johnson Controls, Schneider, Honeywell, Distech, etc. will also be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of various communications protocols used in the industry including BACnet, LonTalk, Metasys, and Modbus.
- Familiarity with networking applications, Ethernet, TCP-IP, IP Networks and infrastructure
- Trained in electrical safety and electrical hazard identification. Familiar with electrical PPE.
