Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Neurodiagnostic Lead, performs EEG, LTME, VER and BAER diagnostic procedures consistent with department policies and procedures and be flexible to meet the specific needs of the Neurodiagnostic department. Ensures accurate diagnostic results for patients in all age groups. Communication skills are essential for this position. May work in an inpatient or outpatient clinical environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge, ability and skill in performing Electroencephalogram (EEG and LTME) and evoked potential studies (VERs and BAERs) studies
2. Technician must have the ability to recognize clinical seizures and/or other medical emergencies and react appropriately
3. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to calibrate equipment, perform test set up, electrode application, and maintain patient safety during clinically significant events and other related duties and prepares written and computer generated materials as required
4. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to clean and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
5. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to help maintain stock supplies and assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase and perform general office duties such as answering phones, faxing reports and making copies
6. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; thus, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
7. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to adhere to facility Patient rights (including privacy)
8. Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics established by ASET
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- High School Graduate / GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Registry in EEG preferred
- Knowledge and skilled in the use of personal computer and/or healthcare information technology
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Read and write basic English with the basic skills necessary to transfer physician’s orders
- Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family and internal and external partners needs
