KBR's Defense Systems Engineering business unit is seeking to hire a Architectural CAD Operator to join our Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Operating Unit. CIP provides expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and Utilities/Control Systems for the DoD, FAA, and Federal Law Enforcement.
Job Summary: The Architectural CAD operator /draftsman supporting Code 1200 at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. Responsible for the design, specification and services related control rooms, maintenance facilities, research facilities, electrical substation, etc. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for producing and maintaining all CAD materials supporting buildings and other relevant structures on the Naval Research Laboratory and associated remote sites.
- Responsible for documenting architectural changes to structures during construction and updating existing or producing new as-built construction drawings to insure accurate records.
- Produce electrical and network connectivity drawings.
- Produce space usage drawings to enable customer to plan, and make decisions about, workspace within the constraints of room size, accessibility, safety, and the dimensions of available cubicle furniture.
- Produce standardized building signage as required.
- Work will be accomplished within building 259 on the Naval Research Lab campus.
- Some local, and long-distance travel may be required (<5%).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 12 years of work-related experience.
- 5 years of experience in the design, modification, and production of architectural CAD material.
Preferred:
- Experience with NDIA drawing standards and ASME-Y14.100 Standard Practice for Engineering Drawings.
- Experience with the use of AutoCAD commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software applications.
Clearance:
- Final Secret clearance required to begin work, with ability to obtain a Final Top Secret W/SCI eligibility required to continue in position.
Basic Compensation:
$102,200 - $153,30
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
