Program Summary
KBR is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team within the Defense Systems Engineering organization, supporting the sustainment engineering efforts of the Air Force and other DoD customers across multiple programs. We provide engineering expertise in reverse engineering, prototyping, analysis, and other aspects of digital material management, allowing our customers to keep legacy systems in operation during the later stages of their lifespans.
Job Summary
This position will support our Tinker AFB customers by resolving sustainment issues. The employee independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard material engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within one functional area, assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations, and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Actively engaged in determining material of existing structures and may be involved in coatings, heat treatment requirements and other material-related processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the customer and team of engineers to establish project requirements
- Provide expertise in selecting, testing, evaluating and validating materials suitable for engineering solutions
- Assisting in writing and reviewing technical documentation
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering, mechanical engineering or similar technical degree from an ABET accredited school
- 2 years of relevant experience
- US Citizen
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in materials engineering, mechanical engineering or similar technical degree.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD systems
- Familiarity with relevant military and commercial standards and specifications
- Knowledge of metallurgy, composites, polymers and ceramics theory and applications
- Knowledge of welding theory and best practices
- Skilled at written and oral communication
- Certified as a Professional Engineer
