Project Environmental Inspector
KBR is providing Project Management Services encompassing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phase execution supporting KBR’s client Sonangol’s multi-billion-dollar grass roots Lobito Refinery Project in Angola Africa.
KBR is looking for a Project Environmental Inspector to support the project’s adherence to Regulatory Compliance and Standards in the Field. This role will ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations while staying updated on industry-specific standards and best practices. The Project Environmental Inspector will support KBR’s HSE team to ensure the organization is well-prepared to handle unforeseen situations and that safety equipment is readily available and functional.
***This role will start in Angola Project Site***
Responsibilities:
- Review and implement project documents and provide direction, support and critical judgment on environmental compliance issues
- Provide technical leadership, support, and direction to field staff, this includes the coordination of daily Environmental Inspector and Resource Monitor schedules and conducting morning construction meetings
- Critically assess environmental conditions in the field to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction
- Evaluate potential issues and concerns ahead of construction activities
- Oversee the proper implementation of mitigation measures, environmental sampling (hydrostatic test water, soil, etc.), and verify flagging of boundaries, cultural and biological resources exclusion zones, refueling zones, etc.
- Inspect and document compliance with a project's environmental requirements by preparing daily written inspection reports that provide up-to-date and consistent written and photo documentation of activities observed in the field
- Participate in various construction meetings
- Prepare documentation to support requests for variances from environmental permits
- Evaluate restoration activities
- Prepare and conduct environmental training for construction personnel
- Conduct field inspections, monitor and field survey work as directed
- Interact with and serve as a point of contact with agency officials, regulatory agency staff, landowners, contractors, clients and other project members and conduct required agency notifications
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify health, safety, and environmental hazards
- Assess workplace risks and collaborate with relevant departments to develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks
- Raise staff awareness of Environmental Regulations
- Provide recommendations for improvement in HSE measures
- Stay informed about local, state, and federal HSE regulations and standards
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with all applicable HSE laws and guidelines
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, testing’s, assessments, and incidents
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions
- Participate in the development and testing of emergency response plans and procedures
- Monitor and assess environmental impacts associated with company operations
- Recommend and implement measures to minimize the organization’s environmental footprint
- Communicate HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to all employees
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization
- Perform additional tasks as assigned or required
Qualifications:
- Proven ability providing HSE support in the field on large scale oil & gas projects
- In depth knowledge of Industrial Hygiene field processes and procedures
- Strong understanding and proficiency with implementation and monitoring of quality tools and various manufacturing processes (procedures, traceability, registration, HACCP, etc.).
- Inspections and Audits, Risk Assessment, Regulatory Compliance, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Training and Education, Incident Investigation, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Compliance, & Safety Communication
- Diploma or equivalent
- 4 + years of Environmental Inspector experience on related projects
