What does a successful Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer at Fiserv do?
As a Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer, you are an integral part of a team dedicated to designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance financial systems, with a particular emphasis on robust streaming services.
Your mission is to ensure system reliability and optimize integration processes, while staying at the forefront of technology for ongoing transformations.
Current priority is on stabilization of Kafka environment and migration to managed service with focus on developer experience. Our vision is to move Kubernetes & Kafka based services to cloud to achieve principles of SaaS.
What you will do:
- Automate repetitive tasks to eliminate manual toil using tools like Ansible, Rundeck, and GitLab pipelines.
- ·Lead the transformation team with a focus on local business and cloud readiness.
- Develop and maintain technology standards.
- Design and implement monitoring solutions to ensure system health including automation and dashboard initiatives to improve technology team efficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across multiple operating systems and middleware technologies.
- Drive performance optimization and system stability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to enhance system performance and security.
- Utilize Generative AI tools to streamline daily operations.
What you will need to have:
- 5+ years of fresh technical experience in DevOps or SRE or Kafka
- Strong platform engineering and development background (Kafka knowledge is welcome).
- Experience with Shell, Python scripting; JAVA, XML, and a basic understanding of SRE/DevOps principles.
- Knowledge of streaming platforms, middleware technologies, and containerization with Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure components such as firewalls and load balancers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead troubleshooting efforts.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- What would be great to have:
- Experience in Kafka Cloudera or Confluent is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Experience working in large, fast-paced environments.
- Strong performance tuning experience and security best practices knowledge.
