At General Motors , we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Body Control Calibration team! Calibration engineers work with vehicles, software, and algorithms to design and release Body Control Module (BCM)/External Lighting Module (ELM) calibrations to meet customer designs and performance requirements. They support the Lead Calibrator and Software Strategists, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team. This is a critical role that ensures the integration to vehicles performs at world class levels to meet program objectives and industry regulations.
The Opportunity:
This is a mid-level calibration position. The successful Lead Body Calibration Engineer candidate will be responsible for managing technical complexity, program scope, and program breadth combine to execute calibration deliverables on time with quality. You will be the person that works collaboratively and cross functionally to ensure correct and robust calibrations are released on time every time. Span of control will include work on multiple body domain features and functions, multiple product lines (Gas, Diesel, Electrification, Hybrid), systems that are subject to regulatory compliance (ex FMVSS/CMVSS, etc.) and collaboration with key global development teams.
Hybrid Role: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Warren, MI) three times per week (Tue., Wed., Thurs.), at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
Some travel may be required, primarily to Michigan/Ontario and other locations in the US and Canada.
Key Responsibilities:

Follow best practices and procedures to calibrate systems to meet product goals, and provide feedback for continuous improvement (Calibration Bill of Materials - CALBOM)

Develop Body Controls Configuration/Performance Calibrations for deployment to GM Vehicle Programs

Investigate and research calibration settings based on CALBOM notes.

Help train new calibration engineers on calibration processes.

Support requirements development with other activities to determine part proliferation.

Support Calibration Reviews with other Calibration Engineers, Software Strategists, and Calibration Technical Specialists.

Author Engineering Change Requests (ECR).

Upload calibration bundle(s) for push to VeSCoM.

Support root cause analysis.

Lead troubleshooting activities for complex system issues across programs

Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions.

Attend software VSE meetings and report back required timing.

Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Adhere to all safety requirements, treat safety as the top priority and lead by example during all work activities.
