Your Team & Role
As the Director, Software Engineer on the Platform Enablement Journey for USB Technology, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, feature teams, solutions architects, and other engineers to improve and modernize the infrastructure that supports the organizations strategic administration platform.
This is a highly visible platform that supports our U.S. Life, Retirement Strategies, and Institutional business administration functions. The strategic administration platform plays a vital role in our success by supporting our current operations and advancing our goals and objectives for business growth. As a seasoned technical leader, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong technical insight, an inclusive leadership attitude, as well as a drive for continuous learning.
This is a dynamic role responsible for executing on the strategy and assisting the Product Owner to ensure the successful implementation of our strategic architecture. Along with providing technical leadership and mentoring the teams, you will be expected to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact across our U.S. business lines.
Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
- Execute on the platform’s strategic vision, providing constant feedback to the team and helping to set and drive toward the vision
- Collaborate with the CPO, PO’s, SAE’s, and team members to define the backlog that supports the enhanced technical design
- Partner with Business Feature teams to prioritize requirements that support the existing business, while managing the goals of transitioning to a strategic platform
- Understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact and support the goals.
- Partner with the vendor on infrastructure design and alignment sessions
- Lead the implementation of enhanced architecture development leveraging the enterprise tools and standards
- Implement automated DevOps enhancements to streamline deployments
- Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering; or experience in related fields
- 4 – 5 years’ experience with industry leading administration platforms supporting Life Insurance and Annuities businesses a must
- Proven ability to collaborate with vendor platforms
- Strong belief in a non-hierarchal structure of collaboration, transparency and trust
- Proven ability to mentor team members and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts, and perspectives to the benefit of the organization
- Experience with raising issues up/down the organization and resolution handling
- Ability to find creative solutions and drive out of the box ideas
- Knowledge of full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Prior hands-on experience with modernized cloud technologies a plus
- Experience in working with DevOps automation tools & practices
- Knowledge of concept and principles of agile methodology; ability to apply appropriate agile approaches to effectively lead the team
- Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills; enjoy learning new skills.

The salary range for this role is from $173,500.00 to $234,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
