The Data Analytics and Insight organization is responsible for the management and integration of data across Schwab. Our focus is on delivering data products and data analysis consumed across the firm, by making data more accessible and available, enabling speed to insight, and ensuring sound governance, resulting in a robust data environment. Ultimately, we will increase the value of our data and better leverage it to create competitive advantage.
Data Governance Analysts are key members of the Data Governance delivery teams. The roles report to the Manager, Data Governance. The main objectives are to bring critical data “under governance” through the execution of a series of service playbooks across both metadata and data quality practices. The role is heavily data centric, multi-skilled, works closely with both data stewards, technology and risk partners across the firm.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver on both metadata and data quality services necessary to achieve governance in line with program scope and targets
- Guide our business entity partners in delivering successful data stewardship outcomes through the implementation of business metadata, technical metadata and linage services
- Deliver data quality services including profiling, data quality rule and scorecards implementation, monitoring, issues management and data remediation that result in trusted information for the firm
- Educate business and technology partners on how to meet standards and align to metadata and data quality practices
- Engage on the continuous improvement of our service and practices
- Work as a team across the Data Governance & Privacy organization, with our business stewards, SMEs, and technology partners towards a common goal of increasing the value of our data
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Experience of metadata and data quality management, and how the need for these underpins healthy data
- Strong data analysis skills and content knowledge of Data Governance and/or Data Management
- Familiarity with data governance tools like Collibra, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog or Informatica Data Quality is highly desirable
- Solid stakeholder management and communications skills to deal with complex topics at more senior levels across the business.
- Experience in SQL programming, Python and analytical skills to support Data Quality and governance process
- Familiarity with a variety of database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, GCP BigQuery, NoSQL databases) and handling of unstructured data
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong critical thinking competency; the ability to carefully examine something, consider options, make good recommendations, seek the necessary approvals, and take appropriate actions
- Data management skills; comfortable working with the growing volumes of information and the ability to understand, research, translate and compile data
- Experience using tools and techniques such as complex spreadsheet formulas and pivot tables, reporting tools like Tableau, database queries, and/or on-line collaboration tools
- A well-developed collaborative nature; the ability to work effectively with others toward commons goals, values effective relationships and partnering
- Strong focus on time management; prioritizes to complete challenging tasks and goals in a timely manner
- Versatility and learning agility; you are willing and able to adapt and support different functions across the team
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS or equivalent on the job experience with data orientation
- Financial Services background
- An explorer mindset; someone who proactively ventures into unfamiliar areas in search of information
- Leadership potential; an individual contributor with the ability to motivate fellow employees towards a common goal, gauge priorities and manage resources
