Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit Renaissance Center, Detroit MI, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
The Domestic Tax Analysis Manager is responsible for GM’s U.S. Federal and State & Local income and franchise tax reporting process. The Manager is also responsible for income tax environment forecasting and assisting Domestic Tax Counsel with book and cash income tax modeling and analysis. The work of Domestic Tax Analysis Manager involves a high level of independent judgment, decision-making, accuracy, creativity and initiative.
What You'll Do:

Manage the U.S. federal and state & local income and franchise tax compliance process, ensuring timely and accurate tax filings.

Manage U.S. federal and state & local income and franchise tax accounting. Specific U.S. tax provision responsibilities include compilation of taxable income, utilization of tax attributes, supporting deferred tax balances and movement, and calculation of provision-to-return adjustments.

Partner with Global Tax Accounting to support the timely and accurate presentation of the U.S. tax provision within journal entries, internal forecasting, external disclosures, and supporting analytics.

Manage team assignment and workflow.

Operate quarterly Sarbanes Oxley controls associated with the U.S. income tax processes.

Train, coach, develop and evaluate staff.

Summarize U.S. income tax related data for management review.

Manage the income tax environment forecasting process and lead weekly cross-functional tax planning sessions.

Collaborate with Domestic Tax Counsel on income tax modeling and analysis and represent DTAG in Tax Staff and broader Finance sessions as needed (projects, develop/present data, participate in key meetings, etc.)

Create project plans, solve problems, and identify/implement process improvements.
