Position Overview
As a Structural Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing bid documents and preparing quantity and cost evaluations for a project for the structural and steel components. You will also be involved in the development of the execution plan as well as the development of the schedule during the pre-project phase. The structural estimator must have a strong background and knowledge of ironworker trade.

Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. Location
This position is based in Pointes-aux-Trembles, Montréal, Québec.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates on work for major projects locally and across Canada with the help of the estimation team.
- Review the owner's plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project.
- Carry out an assessment of the quantities as well as the labor required to carry out the work.
- Carry out material surveys and participate in the evaluation of costs for the supply of permanent materials.
- Participate in the creation of tenders proposal for subcontracting, coordination with bidders as well as the analysis of proposals. Be able to analyze the proposals is both at the commercial and technical level.
- Determine the construction equipment needs for carrying out the work.
- Participate in developing a construction plan which will serve as the basis for the estimate.
- Participate in estimate coordination meetings as well as the various stages of closing bids.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, procurement and the proposal team.
- Maintain a professional and trusting relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support the estimation group and Ganotec as an expert in mechanical components for technical or constructability elements.
Qualifications
- Candidate can be an experience craft worker from the ironworker trade or from a technical/engineering background.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in construction/project estimation.
- Have a complete and detailed knowledge of construction and construction methods in Canada.
- Skills in reading plans and specifications.
- Excellent command of the Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of BlueBeam softwares is an asset.
- Aptitude for learning new software systems is an asset.
- Experience in a heavy industrial, hydroelectric or mining project environment.
- Good ability to prioritize and organize time effectively, ability to work independently and to be polyvalent.
- Fluent in French (spoken and written). Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed. #LI-IS1
