Program Summary

Job Summary
Corrosion control specialists evaluate government assets for oxidation condition and establishes corrosion control program to meet government requirements. Protect government assets from minor and major oxidation by applying organic corrosion preventative measures within an enclosed filtered paint booth. Disassemble equipment to treat base metal with protective layers of organic paints. Post paint reassemble assets to complete work as required following USAF technical data. Team player who performs other related requirements as supervisor and mission dictates.
Roles and Responsibilities
Performs minor and major corrosion control, minor and complete full paint work on all assigned Aerospace Ground Equipment to include full corrosion inspection to determine severity and condition of equipment.
Performs breakdown of equipment to complete inspections, treatment and paint, reassembles equipment and perform operational checks as required to ensure serviceability of assets, stencil units for identification and proper markings.
Electrode weld equipment as required.
May perform other AGE Mechanic requirements to include scheduled/unscheduled inspections and unscheduled maintenance on all AGE by utilizing US Air Force Technical Orders and Safety Directives.
Use windows office to include outlook, excel, word to write reports and communicate with coworkers and customers.
Perform corrosion control of all AGE assets with the use of corrosion control composite tools (general hand tools), paint strippers, air sanders, industrial paint booth. Electrode welder, technical orders, electronic publications (Etool), HAZMAT (proper, storing, handling & disposal), operate equipment tugs and vehicles as needed, general shop equipment.
Normal working environment is indoors and outdoors, in higher ambient temperatures, inclement weather in awkward/cramped potions, must be able to lift 50lbs/23kgs, long periods of standing.
Working at heights up to 7 meters, high noise flight line, aircraft vicinity, high pressure equipment 5,000psi, electrical equipment up to 440VAC.
Wear PPE as required; chemical gloves, aprons face shields, googles, hard hats, leather gloves, chemical face mask, hearing protection, safety boots etc.
Light lifting of up to 30 kilograms, and for heavy lifting of items up to 50 kilograms, proper handling equipment is utilized. Moderate exposure to skill includes dust, wide temperature range, noise, vibrations, fumes, harsh chemicals, odors, pollens and grasses, grease, machinery and moving parts, sitting and driving for long periods, bending, stooping, on knees, both indoors and outdoors, and inclement weather, with occasional exposure to hazardous work conditions.
Ability to identify colors.

Basic Qualifications
US Citizen
High School Diploma or equivalent.
3 Years as a corrosion control specialist.
Certified electrode welder.
Possess or have the capability to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance.
Valid US Drivers Licensed.
MS Office computer skills (Windows, Excel).
