Leidos Defense Sector - Space Systems Division is seeking a talented & skilled 2nd shift Quality Engineer, to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Primary Responsibilities

The 2nd shift Quality Engineer will support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of space products and systems with primary responsibility for the manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing of the Universal Stage Adapter. Candidate will perform program quality planning for human spaceflight hardware, analyze program quality requirements, develop inspection/test procedures and process plans, finalize source inspection checklists, coordinate & review nonconformance documentation, and support root cause/corrective actions & Material Review Boards. Other key duties include reviewing AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation, working with DCMA and other government quality assurance agencies, collecting and reporting of Quality Metrics, and conducting supplier surveillance audits. Work is primarily second shift, Monday-Friday, however, some off-shift and weekend support may be required during critical manufacturing periods.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience. A Master’s degree with 2-6years of prior relevant work experience In lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in quality assurance under an AS9100 system or equivalent experience in DOD or aerospace quality control.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in spacecraft, launch vehicle, or high-performance aircraft development; including one or more of the following: human spaceflight, military or commercial spaceflight, rocket propulsion, advanced aircraft, or composite aerospace structures.
- Candidate must have experience working with non-conforming material, performing failure analysis, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions.
- Candidate must have experience writing work instructions, procedures, and implementing Quality Management System documentation associated with ISO9001/AS9100.
- Candidate must be able to review and interpret contract quality clauses, requirements, and technical data and be able to develop and document appropriate quality verification responses, procedures, plans, and work instructions, including AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation.
- Experience using basic measurement tools
- Experience with ISO/AS9100 type audits & surveillance reviews of sub-tier partners
- Some travel will be required, typically no more than one week per quarter
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Candidate must be able to assist quality inspectors with applicable measurement review and acceptance criteria
- Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
- The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams & sub-tier partners.
- Must be able to pass an eye exam for visual inspection
- Candidates must be a resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the area.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a final Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and/or experience with composite aerospace structures
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Inspection practices
- Applicable Quality Certification(s)

Pay Range:
Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
