Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for an Associate or Mid-Level Test Specialist to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, CA.
Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high efficiency solar cells for space missions. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, a Spectrolab product became the first solar panel to be placed on the moon.
Position Responsibilities:
Interfaces with engineers, peers, group leaders, for direction, collaboration, approval, and identifying requirements to resolve design, manufacturing, and related process problems.
Troubleshoots and resolves test-related problems.
Assists with review and validation of product non-conformances and disposition type, quality procedures and engineering requirements.
Supports analysis to identify and evaluate the quality of products, operations and processes.
Participates in the investigation to determine root cause of nonconformance of plans.
Ability to apply basic knowledge of electronics design, systems and integration to perform failure and forensic analysis of electronics components and systems.
Assists with the development or improvement of inspection or test techniques.
Assists in the design and creation of test coupons to validate equipment or determine product acceptance.
Follows documented procedures to set up and calibrate specialized test or measurement equipment.
Assists in the documentation of procedures for setting up and calibrating test equipment.
Follows documented procedures to perform tests or inspections and collects data for evaluation of process equipment, software, solutions, products or materials.
Analyzes routine test, inspection or statistical data to determine product and processes conformity or assists with standard corrective action recommendations.
Elevates anomalous results as required.
Documents and communicates standard test, analysis or measurement results to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Works under general supervision.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Shift:
Positions are for 1st shift.
1st Shift: 5:00AM - 2:30PM or late start 1st shift: 9:00AM – 6:30PM
Must be flexible to work either shift.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Must have experience using power measurement test and measurement instrumentation (such as power supplies, power meters, and analyzers)
1+ year of experience with electronics troubleshooting, repair, and schematics
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to lift 35 lbs. during a shift
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Vocational education and/or Associates Degree or higher
Ambient pressure thermal environmental test experience
Experience using Automated Test Equipment.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through vocational or advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Travel:
Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Level 2 Salary range: $46,750 to $63,250
Level 3 Salary Range: $53,550 to $72,450
