The Leidos National Security Sector (NSS) is hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our project team located in Brussels, Belgium supporting NATO’s independent Programme Office for enhanced Air Command and Control (eAirC2). This position offers a unique opportunity to join a high-profile team of international system-of-systems (SOS) subject matter experts and be a part of the engineering lifecycle from concept through delivery. This is a multi-year programme focused on data centric, model based, systems engineering practices and the injection of advanced technologies to enhance current mission capabilities. What you’ll be doing:
- Discovery of user need and analysis of requirements.
- Development of an enhanced system-of-systems architecture.
- Produce engineering views IAW standards adopted by the Program.
- Plan, develop, and deploy component software application baselines along with their associated interface definition, design, and configuration.
- Conduct test verification activities including unit, integration, system, acceptance, regression, etc.
- Drive internal support for continuous R&D, innovation, and technology insertion.
- Align and influence the strategic mission, vision, and direction of the Programme.
- Coordinate the resolution of cross-discipline action items raised in miscellaneous boards and reviews.
- Define verification criteria for subsystems, systems, and systems-of-systems capabilities, produce and manage a VCRI/VCRM product/process.
- Update data, documentation, and reports as required to ensure they meet the needs of the Programme accurately.
- Continuously engage with data engineers to ensure the underlying data model is fully aligned with the architectural development at all times.
- Manage change while providing 100% traceability to source requirements across the entire lifecycle.
- Establish measurable and meaningful performance metrics and track and report performance trends over time.
- Stakeholder management and user engagement.
- Optimization of engineering methodology, process, and tools.
- Thought leadership and group discussion on diverse technical solutions.
What does Leidos need from me?
- U.S. Secret security clearance required. You will then obtain Access to NATO Secret (National Clearance Equivalent) which can take less than an hour.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 15 plus years of relevant system-of-systems engineering experience; or a master’s degree with 12 plus years of prior relevant experience.
- Certification by an international systems engineering body such as INCOSE, TOGAF, etc.
- Advanced soft skills and emotional intelligence to deal with high complexity, political influence, and a multi-cultural work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills sufficient for effective communications of complex topics with senior level leaders across the NATO community.
- Leadership traits developed in an international work environment, self-motivation, and an orientation towards results through the relentless pursuit of continuous improvement.

- Have experience with typical systems engineering tools such as version control systems, issue/problem tracking systems, continuous integration environments, etc. Tools may vary or change depending on organizational input.
- Experience in Agile development environments to include the creation of continuous integration/continuous delivery environments.
- Experience producing engineering products across all areas of the software development life cycle from user engagement and need through validation and retirement.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as C++, Java, or cross OS programming.
- A mature and compelling vision, along with an in-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts, for how to deliver cutting edge system-of-systems capability development for advanced command and control of a globally deployed and federated asset base.
Favorable if you have:
- Additional expertise with multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
- Cloud services expertise, such as AWS, Azure, etc., and cloud based agile development environments.
- Certification in adjacent areas such as CISSP, RHCE, Certified Solutions Architect, etc.
- Demonstrable systems thinking expertise linked to a holistic world view of next-gen MBSE practices.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Expertise in Artificial Intelligence technologies such as ML, NLP, Expert Systems, etc.
- Proficiency in mathematical, algorithmic, and/or statistical analysis methods and tools.
- Process optimization and automation experience.
- Experience with data driven simulation and analysis solutions.
- C2 domain knowledge in the aerospace defense sector.
- Risk management experience modeling risk in a system design.
- Data science experience or certifications.
- Experience in adjacent systems engineering specialty areas such as integration, safety, quality, etc.
- Experience with semantic technologies and/or the ontology development lifecycle.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
