Reporting to a Managing Director, HR Business Partners, this Director is responsible for serving as a trusted and collaborative advisor in providing proactive, practical, and valued HR thought partnership to business leadership. You will coordinate and execute strategic HR initiatives for our Executive Counsel group, support annual HR programs while ensuring alignment with Schwab’s corporate culture and business initiatives. As a Director, HR Business Partner, you will provide thought leadership and seek opportunities to help optimize Schwab’s HR model.
Key Outcomes:
- Diagnosing, translating, and defining current and future business needs into an overall integrated strategic HR plan for the client function.
- Coordinating and executing strategic HR initiatives for client groups.
- Serving as a change agent and member of an Executive Leadership team to help drive strategic growth plans and objectives across the organization.
- Providing organizational development interventions and support including organization design, leadership transitions, change management and the improvement of communication processes.
- Assessing organization capabilities by identifying competency and talent gaps, ensuring development of people resources and supporting talent assessment and succession plans.
- Initiating and maintaining effective communications with senior leaders, providing consultation on matters related to performance management, and offering feedback on style and behaviors to improve employee productivity and engagement.
- Ensuring and maintaining the alignment of all corporate HR initiatives and programs
- Implementing and delivering HR programs within the business.
- Delivering high quality, proactive HR consultation that enables the attainment of strategic business goals and critical initiatives in light of client growth objectives.
- Leading efforts with HR Center of Expertise partners to deliver integrated HR services and solutions tailored to the client group.
What you have
Required Experience:
- BA/BS degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years in overall Human Resource Management operating as a strategic HR Business Partner within mid to large-sized organizations; experience in diversified financial services is preferred.
- Experience operating successfully in a complex matrixed organization with multiple business partners and competing priorities.
- Significant experience leveraging data and creating analytics (Microsoft Excel, Access and/or Tableau Software) to drive recommendations and strategic decision-making.
- Experience in organization design and creating workforce plans to inform decision making.
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to impact organizational effectiveness and excel on high performing teams capable of delivering strategic results.
- A trusted leader with a track record of building collaborative relationships with colleagues and team members.
- Demonstrated business knowledge and capability to assess HR implications of business priorities.
- Strong influencing skills with people and teams.
- Strong executive presence, proven ability to influence and coach senior leaders, and outstanding interpersonal skills are key.
- Ability to balance strategic and systems thinking with operational implementation.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute competing demands, and pivot quickly based on evolving HR or business needs.
- Successful history of developing and leading organizational change initiatives delivering tangible business results
- Ability to travel as dictated by business needs (estimated 5-10%)
