POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sourcing Specialist I will be supporting the commodity management team in the sourcing of raw materials and components for Electrical components and assemblies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Communicate with vendors regarding RFQs for new, existing, and special components. Works with manager to analyze quotations in terms of price, quality, availability, service, warranty, and the consistency of each.
- Must be able to collect, organize and analyze data in a meaningful way to facilitate decision-making. Must be able to communicate information to other plant locations to ensure continuity between plants.
- Support productivity activities, such as VAVE projects, with current product and new product development (NPD) with engineering, product management and Commodity Managers.
- Must become proficient with J. D. Edwards operation and be able to enter and maintain purchase orders and/or release/delivery information.
- Support ECO process by logging ECR/ECO, prepare pull prints for RFQs, identify suppliers to quote, quote analysis; notifying SQE of PPAP sample availability communicate internally with different functional areas and externally with suppliers; prepare periodic progress reports and presentations.
- Support category manager by ordering parts for evaluation, prototypes, and/or to mitigate supply risks.
- Support category manager with onboarding of new vendors by facilitating NDAs, drafting agreements, developing schedules to support initial part delivery, and as needed, vendor changeover management.
- Work with the sale’s forecast and purchasing teams to create demand plans for critical vendors and parts and communicate those forecasts to critical vendors.
- Apply logistical options and associated costs to assure that material flow from suppliers to ESG results in a high quality delivered product with an optimal cost structure.
- Prepare and issue reports and/or correspondence using Power Point, Excel, Word.
- Must be proficient with advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Mail Merge, Pivot Tables, VLookup, etc.) and SharePoint.
- Support team members in their absence – warranty, supplier quality, and meeting participation.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of organization throughout all daily activities. To include, but not limited to, documentation of all verbal and written correspondence with others (internal and external), proper filing of such information, planning and scheduling of appointments and the coordination of such with others within the department and/or company, time management and the prioritization of tasks. Must document on the purchase order all details relative to supply of a given component to allow for tracking and/or follow-up by others in the event of absence of the employee.
- Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or other schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required in order to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Must be courteous and professional to others (internal and external). Must maintain a “customer service” attitude toward plant, supervisory, and management personnel to ensure that our ultimate customer receives the highest level of service. Must have the ability to interact with vendors, customers and others in a confident, professional manner.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% too ESG plants and facilities, vendor’s facilities, and internationally as needed.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Must have a good attendance record.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the Purchasing field.
- Must be able to handle multiple wide range tasks.
- Ability to work with computer-based information and systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
