As the Aerospace Systems Operations. Quality Control Manager you will be expected to utilize your experience to implement and oversee aerospace quality assurance and quality control procedures in order to create a safe and efficient operating environment. Your efforts will help ensure performance through scheduled internal process audits, data analytics and the continual facilitation of structure improvement activities. Your duties will include the assurance to processes and procedures that align the Operation with AS9100, AS6500, ISO17025, FAR, and DFAR requirements as well as the execution of established program execution and mission assurance requirements. This requires a broad understanding of all aspects of aerospace including manufacturing and integration functions.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
This position is responsible for implementing a Quality Control system and team that promotes customer satisfaction. The position will champion quality actives for all Manufacturing operations, product approvals (FAI), supplier part approvals, continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to develop an effective Quality Control system for integration of electromechanical products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, composite assemblies, electrical assemblies, flight hardware fabrication and assemblies, etc.
This position:
- Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
- Previous experience managing Quality Engineers
- Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff.
- Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness.
- Leads root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
- Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
- Develops quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant.
- Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
- Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant’s product lines.
- Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
- Participates in internal and external quality audits.
- Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations
- Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and eight (8) years prior relevant experience; or Master’s with six (6) year of prior relevant experience. Additional years of direct experience working in aviation programs in support of defense contracts may be substituted for degree.
- Must have Ten (10+) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment. Fifteen (15+) years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree
- In depth knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 requirements.
- Experience reviewing requirements on contracts and resources needed to comply to this contract.
- Ability to review and provide quality control inputs to aviation program manuals, forms, and records.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
- Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading large teams of quality professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
List additional skills and experience that is “nice to have” but not required.
- Experience working with hypersonic systems or space systems.
- Some travel may be required, typically no more than 25%

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
