Your Impact
The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, modules, and stable application systems. This position leads one or more teams of software engineers in the development, configuration and modification of integrated business and/or enterprise Data, BI or Platform engineering solutions. This includes responsibility for providing oversight in the implementation and maintenance of business and enterprise Data, BI or Platform engineering solutions to ensure successful deployment of released applications.
This individual leads one or more engineering teams delivering complex Data or BI engineering solutions for one or more business functional areas.
What you will do
• Guides the team in resolving complex problems spanning across multiple applications to deliver value; leads projects with significant business implications, participates in planning, estimation, and prioritization in tandem with the respective product manager, and advises other engineers; executes with limited guidance.
• Evaluates and facilitates decisions on build versus buy as well as best fit platform suitable for the business problem.
• Educates others on current architectural standards and guidelines to drive efficiency when leading the design efforts of complex business and enterprise data or platform solutions.
• Ensures good unit testing coverage accounting for all boundary conditions and produces system integration test plan and testing framework for data engineers to leverage and implement both unit testing, functional testing, and user acceptance testing.
• Enforces best source control and continuous integration/continuous deployment practices for efficient testing and deployment of code to different environments.
• Coordinates the estimation and execution of plans, schedules, and resource forecasts for the services or applications in their scope.
• Establishes and delivers on the product roadmap with product partners.
• Leads a team in support of achieving the company’s mission. Manages performance and fosters an inclusive environment to help associates achieve their potential.
• Defines and manages service level agreements for all data sets and processes running in production.
• Works with the data science team to understand mathematical models and algorithms; educates and influences data scientists on how data engineering can help scale and deploy models.
• Leads teams in troubleshooting system issues; facilitates root cause analysis and drafts reports that provide insight into system support activities; ensures conformance of the technology solutions with IT governance and regulatory frameworks.
• Leads infrastructure-related projects from idea generation through implementation, including needs analysis, cost/benefit analysis, selection, implementation, knowledge transfer, and support.
• Analyzes and proposes design alternatives, facilitates appropriate design decisions, and assesses risk, cost, schedule, and resource tradeoffs; understands networking, like subnetting, routing, virtual private cloud/virtual network, security groups, and load balancing.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
• 8 years of experience in Data, BI or Platform Engineering, Data Warehousing/ETL, Administration or Software Engineering
• 3 years of experience in managing projects, people and stakeholders
• 3 years of experience leading project or technical teams with or without formal direct report responsibility; this includes experience providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field
• 2 years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility
• 2 years managing operational and/or project financial budgets
• IT consulting experience
• Experience in IT Management in the retail industry
• 3 years of experience in software development in an agile environment
• Experience working with 3rd party vendors and/or software solution providers
• Experience working in an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
Data Engineering
• 5 years of experience in Hadoop or any Cloud Bigdata components (specific to the Data Engineering role)
• Expertise in Java/Scala/Python, SQL, Scripting, Teradata, Hadoop (Sqoop, Hive, Pig, Map Reduce), Spark (Spark Streaming, MLib), Kafka or equivalent Cloud Bigdata components (specific to the Data Engineering role)
BI Engineering
• 1 year of experience in OLAP on Hadoop or any Cloud BI components (specific to the BI Engineering role)
• 6 years of experience managing projects, vendors, people and stakeholders (specific to the BI Engineering role)
• Expertise in MicroStrategy/Power BI/SQL, Scripting, Teradata or equivalent RDBMS, Hadoop (OLAP on Hadoop), BI Architecting, Dashboard development, Mobile development (specific to the BI Engineering role)
Platform Engineering
• 9 years of experience in Hadoop, NO-SQL, RDBMS or any Cloud Bigdata components, Teradata, MicroStrategy (specific to the Platform Engineering role)
• Expertise in Java/Scala/Python, SQL, Scripting, Teradata, MicroStrategy, Oracle, MySql, SQL Server, Hadoop (Sqoop, Hive, Pig, Map Reduce), Spark (Spark Streaming, MLib), Kafka or equivalent Cloud Bigdata components (specific to the Platform Engineering role)

Pay Range: $122,600.00 - $232,900.00 annually Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
