Job Summary
Under general direction, this position involves performing a variety of complex assignments that require significant judgment and initiative to resolve.
1st Shift
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a skilled specialist, the incumbent completes tasks using creative and effective approaches, determines methods and procedures for new assignments, understands the implications of their work, and makes recommendations for solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process utilizing diagnostic equipment, processes, and procedures.
- Maintaining proficiency with diagnostic software at all levels.
- Dismantling, adjusting, repairing, and assembling equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or drawings.
- Rebuilding manufacturing equipment as required.
- Performing scheduled preventive maintenance and documenting maintenance per program designation.
- Monitoring work order backlog and proactively informing management of potential impacts on production.
- Calibrating equipment using general and special-purpose test equipment.
- Communicating with equipment suppliers regarding equipment repairs.
- Making recommendations regarding the design and specifications of equipment.
- Suggesting design enhancements or modifications to production equipment.
- Training lower-level technicians in equipment maintenance.
- Providing back-up supervisory duties as needed.
- Being available for overtime and on-call work.
- Complying with all procedures within the company security policy.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, especially with technical support services.
- Thorough working knowledge and troubleshooting capability with various mechanical equipment in a commercial or industrial environment, typically gained through extensive experience.
- Proficiency with basic and special-purpose hand tools, leveling instruments, and test/calibration equipment.
- Capability to troubleshoot failures detectable at the I/O level.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Understanding of safety and hazard color codes and other component value markings.
- Familiarity with safety practices and requirements.
- Solid knowledge of specialized maintenance tracking programs.
- Proficiency in personal computer operation in a Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email).
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing HVACR systems
- Plumbing/Gas Journeyman/Contractor license preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate degree in Trade/Construction field theory or an equivalent discipline.
- Four to eight years of prior work experience with Commercial/industrial utility mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in leading a team of technicians.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
