Advanced Program Support Technician

KBR is seeking an entry-level Technician to support our SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBR’s Science and Space division.
The entry-level technician will be responsible for manufacturing, building, testing and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware including, but not limited to: (Extra Mobility Unit (EMU) Suits and Suit components, EVA Tools and Crew Aids, Ancillary equipment, Advanced program and other contracts and subsystem equipment as required. Manufacturing equipment and processes include, but not limited to 3D printers, fabric laser and wheel cutters, and dip mold preparation. Testing of hardware will include repair and maintenance, cleaning, inspection, Engineering Change (EC) incorporation, assembly, disassembly, and performance/functional testing. Repair and maintenance processes require the use of hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricates, and solvents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manufacturing, maintenance, assembly, testing, repair and processing of hardware to support various events, and deliverables; incorporates engineering changes, and performs functional performance testing of Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) components or related hardware, associated Extravehicular Activity (EVA) hardware, and other systems of hardware as assigned
- Operation of machine equipment includes 3D printers, RF welding machines, fabric laser and wheel cutters, and various low pressure air systems
- Provide assistance to engineers in the location and diagnosis of anomalies and recommends corrective action through liaison
- Daily tasks associated with reading engineering drawings/schematics, equipment specifications, test procedures etc.
- Specified training online, and in classroom, as required to maintain certifications to perform job functions
- Daily updates to various job-related database(s)
- Adherence to Quality and Safety requirements
- Transportation responsibilities to operate motor vehicle for delivery of hardware to various events
- Daily verbal and written communication with other technicians, leads, engineers, managers, other personnel and customers
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Requirements:
- Mechanically inclined with a general understanding of how to use different types of hand and power tools
- Must be able to pass a Class III Physical; Physiological Training; Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training
- Must have excellent mechanical skills and able to reading, comprehending, and executing detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Document directions
- Candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a good driving record and able to operate a government vehicle
- Excellent oral and written communications; must be able to read and interpret Work Authorizing Documents (WADs) and mechanical design drawings
- Capacity to work in a team environment
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Years of Experience: 0-3 of related experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Military Technical School (skilled craft level five) or the equivalent of High School Graduate plus applicable years of directly related work experience
- Experience with Pressure Systems desired or familiar with Pressurized Test Equipment
