The Airborne Systems Operations, part of the Defense Sector at Leidos, currently has an opening for a Senior Software / Systems Engineer to work in Beavercreek, OH office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Air Force Research Lab, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, and other DoD missions. Your role will be to support our diverse portfolio of programs through a combination of software design and development, hardware interfacing and integration, laboratory experimentation, ground and flight testing to deploy cutting edge software and hardware solutions.
This position may allow for hybrid / partial remote work in the future, but initially would be 100% onsite in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, develop, test and maintain mission-critical software in support of national defense, and intelligence gathering products for both airborne and ground-based systems.
Participate in laboratory, ground and flight testing to validate software.
Document and communicate proposed software solutions with integrated, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast paced highly technical environment.
Stay up to date on state-of-the-art programming techniques and software technologies.
Participate in software design and code reviews to ensure delivery of quality products and enhance skillsets.
Contribute to research that fuels innovation and technological advancements.
Apply appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
Duties may include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms.
Share depth and breadth of knowledge with junior and mid-level staff through mentorship and skill sharing.
Assist Leadership with new business growth through support of proposals, internal research and development (IR&D), and marketing of Leidos developed products and solutions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field with at least 8 years’ experience; or Master’s degree and 6 years’ experience.
An active SECRET level DoD clearance is required for this role, along with the ability to obtain a TS clearance.
C++ development experience in Linux environments with embedded systems.
Eight (8) years’ experience with hardware and software systems integration.
Eight (8) years’ experience developing plans for software design solutions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to travel up to 10% (estimate) within the continental United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years’ experience of development with Open Architecture standards such as Open Mission Systems (OMS) and DARPA STITCHES.
Experience with Java or Python.
Experience with development and integration of ISR sensing modalities such as electro-optical, infrared, RF comms, SAR/MTI radar, COMINT/ELINT/SIGINT.
Experience with imaging and data processing and dissemination standards such as NITF, MISB, STANAG and other MIL-STD for Avionics.
Experience with interfacing to hardware ICDs/APIs for C2 and data processing.
Experience with end-to-end integration and testing within a Systems Integration Laboratory.
Experience with field and flight test experimentation and demonstration.
Experience with development and integration of military datalinks such as MANET, Link-16, TTNT.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
