We are currently seeking a
Mechanisms SME to design and build mechanisms for spacecraft at Lockheed Martin. These critical components include anything that moves on the satellite, including hinges, gimbals, motors, gears, dampers, rotary joints, linear actuators, and deployables.

The mechanisms design team supports all lines of business at Lockheed Martin which means you could be designing mechanisms for the next mission to Mars or for the next generation of GPS satellites or for systems that protect and defend our nation.
In this role, you will:
• Establish the design of mechanisms, including requirements allocation, trade studies, solid modeling, materials evaluations, and analyses.
• Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
• Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
• Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building.
• May become the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for the mechanism. The CPE is the technical advocate responsible for all aspects of the mechanism from program inception to launch and on-orbit operations.
• May become the Product Team Lead (PTL) for several mechanisms and asked to lead multiple integrated product teams consisting of engineers, analysts, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers. The PTL will lead team meetings, be the point of contact between with the program/customer, and lead design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards. The PTL will also establish the detailed plan, manage the team to that plan, report cost and schedule performance, and report earned value management metrics.
Basic Qualifications:• Technical experience with mechanism design using motors, bearings, gears, resolvers, and potentiometers.
• Experience designing spacecraft, aerospace, or mechanical components
• Demonstrated ability to drive hardware production activities through delivery to the program.
• Proficient with mechanical CAD modeling in CREO or equivalent
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Strong mentoring skills
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills:• Considered a technical leader in aerospace mechanisms design.
User of CREO CAD software
• CPE or CPE delegate experience
• MRB trained and certified
• Ability to work in a reciprocal and team-based environment
• Familiar with releasing drawings in EPDM 9.1
• Experience working with and overseeing manufacturing and/or outside suppliers
• Cost account manager training/experience
• Active Top Secret Clearance.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $118,100 - $226,400. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
