We have an exciting opportunity for a Cleaning Mech/Tech I join the team with our Operations & Test division.
This is a CBA position.
The Cleaning Mech/Tech I will:
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble components and assemblies to clean contamination to a specified cleaning standard, requirement, or per instruction.
- Work will be performed under the direct supervision of another technician or involve simple tasks.
- Maintain and operate under clean room standards.
- Log data for work performed.
- Bag and tag items to maintain cleanliness and tracking of flight and non-flight purposes.
- Perform related duties as required.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Required Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to hold necessary security clearances.
- High School diploma or equivalent
Preferences:
- Prior clean room experience which includes the following cleaning methods: abrasive, chemical (solvent based), ultrasonic.
- Clean room protocols and familiarization with maintenance procedures (sticky pads, filter change out, etc.).
- Handling of NASA flight hardware.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color differentiation when using ultraviolet light.
- Requires occasional:
- Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
- Hearing with or without correction.
- Bending, kneeling crouching, squatting and/or crawling from one to 30 minutes at a time.
- Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
Requires Frequent:
- Lifting to 20 pounds from ground level and waist level.
Requires Constant:
- Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Carrying up to 20 pounds for 20 yards.
- Standing.
- Seeing with or without correction.
Requires the ability to:
- Follow set procedures and standards.
- Planning work and selecting proper tools.
- Follow written and oral directions, plans and blueprints.
- Picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked.
- Recognize and report safety hazards.
- PPE and clothing for a clean room environment must be worn. A respirator may be used when filling/using chemicals.
Work Environment:
Typically a cleanroom environment with exposure to various noise levels caused by power tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
High noise area in the ultrasonic cleaning area.
Equipment and Machines:
Operate and maintain chemical vats, pumps, ultrasonic cleaners, compressed air, purified water, and wash tanks/sinks. Ultraviolet lamps, magnifying lenses, and other visual inspection tools. Heat sealing machines for bagging/wrapping.
Computer workstations, peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, and print documents. Other office machines (printer, fax, etc.)
Attendance:
Regular attendance following an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
Other Essential Functions:
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
