The Opportunity
Join our dynamic Claims Learning team, where you’ll collaborate with experienced designers, facilitators, and subject matter experts across all lines of claims to shape impactful training experiences. As an entry-level instructional designer, you’ll play a critical key role in updating and refining training materials, ensuring they remain current and effective. This is your opportunity to grow your skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and make a lasting impact on our learning programs.
Within defined guidelines and framework, assists Instructional Designers who are partnering with Learning Performance Consultants as they gather and validate learning requirements. Assists in assessing the learning outcomes that need to be developed. Under direct supervision, designs and develops learning curriculum to improve performance of USAA employees.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Under direct supervision, assists with designing and developing interactive facilitator-led and online content to meet the learning needs of the business.
- Assists with the development of timelines and milestones.
- Ensures consistency, quality, and appropriate use of course content guidelines.
- Develops an understanding of the business, its products, and processes to assist with the design and development of learning curriculum to improve performance of USAA employees.
- Under direct supervision, gathers information and analyzes data trends.
- Assists team with the resolution of issues. Identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Up to 2 years of experience in instructional design and instructional technology to include training industry experience and advanced knowledge of instructional design tools and methodologies.
- Accountability for simple to moderately complex tasks and/or projects.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, project management skills, multi-tasking, and project flexibility.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
What sets you apart:
- Experience in Property or Auto Claims.
- Instructional Design Degree and/or Certifications.
- Experience with Jira Project Management or similar project management tool.
- Experience with learning development tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Products, Vyond, etc.)
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional]

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $46,100 - $80,190.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
