DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environment Leader – Low Complexity to join our team specializing in Health & Safety for Cummins, Inc. in Manning, SC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Build Relationships : Foster strong cross-functional relationships to ensure everyone understands their roles and is committed to a positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Employee Consultation : Ensure employees are consulted and involved in developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures.
- Risk Management : Lead hazard identification and risk assessment programs to identify and address strategic risk improvement opportunities and compliance gaps.
- Training and Support : Develop and implement an effective support model through training, skills development, and internal communications. Manage planning actions to set and achieve site targets and objectives.
- Content Management : Develop and maintain up-to-date support content, ensuring it adheres to data privacy regulations and is available as needed. Interface with regulatory bodies with legal support.
- Daily Operations : Lead daily health, safety, and environmental operations, addressing issues such as compliance, resource management, risk reduction, incident investigation, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, pollution prevention, and sustainability.
- Data Evaluation : Evaluate site health, safety, and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and audit results to develop and implement improvement plans. Use a risk-based, data-driven approach to drive performance improvements.
- System Reviews : Lead annual reviews of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems to ensure conformance with internal requirements and reporting standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Ensure your investigations are detailed and evidence-based. Collect all relevant data and witness statements to understand the incident fully.Implement solutions that address the root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards. Regularly review and update your management systems to ensure they meet certification requirements. Conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits.
- Influence the Health, Safety and Environmental Culture - Champions positive health and safety behaviors by influencing leaders and employees to create the right environment.
- Risk Assessment - Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace.Evaluate the likelihood and severity of identified hazards. Select and implement control measures to reduce risks to an acceptable level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.
- Intermediate level of experience required, including experience in management of health, safety and environmental ISO Standards required. Minimal management experience preferred.
- HSE support for the facility
- Managing the SWP and other required government permits.
Additional Responsibilities:
1-5 years of intermediate managerial Health, Safety and Environmental experience.
