Business Development Director – Risk Consulting, Financial Institutions & Capital Markets
Position Summary:
The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving growth of the firm's Risk Consulting practice within the Financial Institution and Capital Markets industries in the Northeast region.
The Business Development Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the sales process, including systematic prospect targeting, development of opportunity-specific sales strategy, and selection of pursuit teams and "quarterbacking" the entire sales process. This individual will build and maintain strong sales pipelines and forecasts associated to substantiated opportunities, prepare and facilitate presentations/proposals as well as close sales and finalize agreements with customers. The Business Development Director will work closely with the firm’s Financial Institutions and Capital Markets industry leaders and Risk Consulting line of business leaders in growth efforts through direct prospecting, networking, attendance and participation with various industry and professional groups and networking associations.
The individual in this position will have all the necessary resources to be set up for success for this career opportunity that provides a competitive base salary along with a lucrative, uncapped incentive compensation plan. We are looking for a candidate that has a proven track record in selling professional services.
Responsibilities:
- Source and qualify opportunities with mid-size and large Financial Services companies with focus on Technology, AI, Data and Analytics
- Work with Financial Institution industry team leaders to identify and target key companies, and local and national marketing resources to develop effective, targeted go-to-market plans for these companies
- Execute the sales plan and process, including coordination of all necessary internal and external resources to best position the firm to secure the business.
- Actively network with contacts, professional affiliations, and industry groups while maintaining a healthy pipeline.
- Support in cross-selling additional services to existing clients where appropriate.
- Manage and host webinars, offsites, roundtables and other relevant marketing events.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong network with minimum of 10+ years of experience with demonstrated success in selling technology professional services to global financial services organizations
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience representing technology, AI, Data and Analytics service areas.
- Experience selling to enterprise and functional IT groups and 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defense.
- Ability to drive a complex sales cycle from identification through the close of deals. Manage RFP responses that involve multiple team members and multiple decision makers (primarily CIO/ CTO / CDO / CRO level decision makers).
- Demonstrated network of COI's (Centers of Influence) to include banking, IT and other professional services relationships that could be leveraged to identify opportunities within assigned industry groups.
- Experience leveraging a CRM tool for report generation and sales tracking.
- Prior experience leveraging social media technologies for networking purposes.
- Excellent influence and negotiation skills; strong executive presence and business acumen.
- Must be motivated and self-disciplined; must possess strong time management skills.
- Travel is required (local and overnight when appropriate).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active network of CxO, Managing Director level contacts in the Financial Institutions around Metro NYC, Chicago, Boston, and Dallas areas.
- Demonstrated community involvement and activity with industry associations, civic and/or non-profit groups in the risk management sector.
- Exhibit exceptionally strong communication, presentation, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience working for Big Four or other national technology firms a significant plus.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $300,000
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
