We are seeking a Plant/Site Manager who will be accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Conyers, GA facility and 5 associated on-site generated gas plants (Gen-Gas) at key customer locations in the area. This individual will oversee plant operations, distribution terminal activities and support maintenance planning and execution, turnarounds, capital projects and technical support. This role is a key member of the South Sub-region Operations Leadership Team and as such is instrumental in establishing and promoting a culture focused on safety, environmental compliance, and inclusivity.
The Conyers, GA facility is located in a suburban community in the metro Atlanta, GA area. It consists of an air separation plant (ASU), including 2 cryogenic liquefier units and an argon purification unit. The facility also includes a distribution terminal that delivers liquid oxygen (LOX), liquid nitrogen (LIN), and liquid argon (LAR) to customers in the GA, AL, FL, SC and TN markets. In 2024, Air Products announced a significant reinvestment project to upgrade the Conyers facility. This highlights Air Products commitment to its core industrial gas business.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage and lead the activities of the Operations Team to ensure process safety, worker safety, environmental compliance, reliability, and cost optimization
- Lead and guide the Operations Team in monitoring the operation of the plant on a daily basis including, reviewing and optimizing energy usage for the plant, and mitigating any plant upsets and emergencies
- Manage and lead the Distribution Terminal Team to ensure safety is paramount and reliable, and on-time delivery of our products is achieved
- Work with the Line Manager and Asset Manager to develop strategic plans for the Conyers’ assets and ensure capital investments and maintenance costs are well managed
- Support turnaround and shutdown planning and execution through active participation in scope justification and development, and active leadership during the event
- Work with the South Sub-region maintenance team to ensure that the scheduled work items are appropriately prioritized
- Work with project engineering and the maintenance team on scope and execution timing for capital/maintenance projects
- Accountable for ensuring process safety and worker safety compliance by supporting process hazard analysis (HAZOP/LOPA), leading incident investigations (RCA), owning procedure development and improvement, owning management of change (MOC), ensuring emergency response preparedness, supporting alarm management, and providing assistance for work scope development, and assessment of operability requirements for plant designs
- Provide development of direct reports and motivation of staff resulting in an engaged, reliable and competent work force
- Work with Human Resources to ensure all Company policies, rules and guidelines are being followed and administered in a fair and consistent manner.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or seven (7) or more years of related, operations experience is required
- Five (5) or more years of experience in Manufacturing Operations, preferably in Industrial Gas, Refining and/or Chemicals
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role
- Experience in commissioning and start-up of new plants is a plus
Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge and experience in process safety programs including mechanical integrity, incident investigations (RCA), process hazard analysis (HAZOP/LOPA/OPHR/, management of change (MOC), procedure development, and emergency response
- Demonstrated capability in successfully leading change management and implementing programs/initiaves
- Proven ability to lead and influence direct staff reports as well as ability to lead by influence
- Excellent communication skills and strong business acumen
- Ability and desire to manage assets outside of the Conyers fence line
