The Defense Systems Sector, is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organization which supports multiple programs at once in a variety of engineering fields with all different team environments, from the large-scale programs that Leidos Defense is the prime contractor for, like the Hypersonics Weapons Program and High Energy Laser Program, to smaller- scale programs for which Leidos Defense provides support as a subcontractor to companies in the top 100 DoD contractors. The Systems Engineer will support the Systems Engineering group in risk management and general systems engineering.
A candidate with experience or interest in risk management with the ability to support other systems engineering activities and domains will be treated preferentially. The candidate must be flexible and willing to perform traditional systems engineering tasks along with supporting other specialty discipline areas such as Model Based Systems Engineering
Primary Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will support risk management, develop various SE documents, support the requirements team in development and tracing, etc. across related contracts. The selected candidate will interface with the government customer, program management, finance, EVM, subcontractors, and program engineers to support a program’s risk management and systems engineering needs throughout its life cycle. The selected candidate may present the systems engineering artifacts they have developed to the customer in formal reviews and may serve as a customer liaison in many of their programs.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 2+ years of experience or an MS with less than 2 years.
Experience in risk management
Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Demonstrated experience effectively executing Systems Engineering tasks.
Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:
Experience modeling in Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent) using SysML
Experience leading technical document development
Requirements database tools
Experience supporting DoD programs
Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification
INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP)

Pay Range:
Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00
