Job Description As part of our ordnance systems team, you will be working alongside some of the industry's top talent on the forefront of energetics technology. We are currently hiring a Control Systems Engineer who as part of a team will be responsible for the design, implementation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of the complete system, including PLC/DCS (Distributed Control System) controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s), and associated communication networks for process control and/or monitoring applications. This position works on capital Improvement projects and chemical production support at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in the New River Valley of western Virginia.Here, we value our workforce, and their well-being. Essential Duties- Provide high level of Plant Support by responding to and resolving control system issues with urgency.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to estimate, design, implement, and commission chemical modernization projects for the manufacturing facility
- Support all aspects of a control system (PLC, HMI, DCS, VFD, etc), including hardware, network, and software configuration.
- Ensure work done is consistent with control systems standards and procedures, including participating as part of team as required to test and checkout system I/O, interlocks (safety and process) and automated control strategies that are part of the control system.
- Review and drive improvements of the control system design with our customer and operators
- Coordinate all work done with our customers, including providing guidance/ input for and/or writing any commissioning plan and subcontractor work (scope) that is required to complete work.
- Understand and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards, including completing all required safety training on time.
- Identify and develop standards/ procedures / guides, training plans, process checklists and other quality solutions.
- Review team projects for quality and accuracy.
- Specify and requisition purchase of hardware and software as required by project
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the customers supported
- Be able to manage, prioritize, and support multiple projects at the same time.
- On call to support production during off hours on a rotating basis
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Controls System Engineering/ Computer Science and 1+ years of applicable experience. May consider other engineering related or similar technical degree.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and Electrical Drawings.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Prior work experience in a chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, or hazardous material production facility.
- Ability to read, interpret and/or write documentation needed to program a complete control system (Functional Specification, Control Narrative, I/O List, etc)
- Experience working on (as part of a team) design, implementation, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC/HMI applications with products such as Siemens PCS7, TIA Portal, and/or Rockwell / Allen-Bradley for process or automation systems.
- Experience providing plant support within a 24/7 manufacturing facility
- Experience working with Vendor Skids and integrating them into complex manufacturing/ chemical processes.
- Experience with variable speed drives, positioners, actuators, valves, and instrumentation used for chemical or industrial plant production processes
- Knowledgeable in industrial network architectures, topologies, cybersecurity, servers, software validation and simulation.
- Experience with at least one control system platform including Siemens PCS7, Siemens Simatic Batch, Siemens TIA Portal, Siemens WinCC, Allen Bradley ControLlogix/ Compactlogix, Wonderware, and Modicon.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Historian databases including Active Factory and Siemens Process Historian/ Information Server.
- Experience with at least onecontrol system communication protocol including Profibus, Profinet, Modbus TCP, and HART.
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives, including Siemens and Eaton.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer In Training (EIT)
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
