The Opportunity
Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team are looking for the next generation of Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineersto start their career in aviation. As our newest Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer,you will be responsible for gaining skills and experience in maintenance and modification of the various P-8A Poseidon Mechanical or Structures systems and associated equipment, in support of attainment of an Aeroskills Certificate IV as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Structures). The position is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
Your Day:
No two days are the same, but here is an example of what activities you can expect to undertake during your apprenticeship:
- Aircraft and servicing tasks
- Removal and installation of aircraft components
- Disassembly and reassembly of aircraft components
- Preparation and use of aircraft support equipment
- Inspection, maintenance, servicing, repair and fault diagnosis of components and systems.
- Aircraft flight-line handling duties
In addition to the above, in order to successfully complete your apprenticeship, you will also be required to:
- Attend training with a Registered Training Organisation
- Pass all examinations to the acceptable pass mark of the Registered Training Organisation
- Maintain a detailed journal of experience to a standard acceptable to BDA and the Registered Training Organisation
Your checklist for success:
- Enthusiasm and passion to learn aircraft maintenance activities from experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who will mentor and guide you from day one to completion of your Cert IV Aeroskills.
- Aircraft Mechanical / Structures aptitude with a willingness to learn
- Ability to successfully interact with mentors, co-workers and management to maintain productive working relationships to meet team, business unit, and organisational goals
- Have the self-discipline to maintain a current work journal
- Able to speak, read and write fluent English
The nice to haves:
- Competence with Microsoft office suite.
- Knowledge of aircraft operational procedures.
- Completion of theory of Cert IV in Aeroskills (desirable only)
Security Clearance
You will be required to successfully undergo the vetting process for a Government security clearance (NV1) sponsored by BDA. Therefore, you must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and must have the ability to verify your background for whole of life i.e. birth to present time.
