Description
Leidos is seeking a summer intern with a Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Information Systems background to join our team in support of the SMIT contract, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support day to day operational maintenance for solutions deployed to the NMCI network.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Tools Engineering Intern duties include:
- Deployment of solutions to Windows and RHEL environments Support automation efforts to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiencies
- Support automation efforts to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiencies
- Participate in the planning of tool upgrades, replacement, configuration, and maintenance
- Participate in new and existing IT modernization, expansion, and improvement projects related to tools and data for the NMCI network
- Comply with ITSM processes and procedures
- Comply with Cybersecurity requirements within the DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239
- Collaborate with technical experts to synthesize solutions related to tools and data
- Develop and maintain processes, checklists, and procedures for tools and data
Basic Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a degree program focusing in Systems Engineering, CS/CIS (or similar) major with graduation planned in late 2025-2027
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- US citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain Security+ (or other relevant) certification to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements
- Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Motivated self-starter with ability to work in a matrix organization and communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and program leadership
- Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership
- Willingness to travel to customer sites to perform tasks when necessary

Pay Range:
Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
