Job Description
The Media Specialist oversees and manages the daily workflow for the Dalet system, all delivery of shows videos, SOTS and PKGs for the News Department, including acquisitions, on-air promotions, Digital, Legal, Marketing.
The Media Specialist will also be plugged into current and future media operation initiatives with full understanding and ability to translate and support the end user.
Reporting to the News Director, the media specialist is expected to facilitate the media needs of all departments, properly escalate issues and maintain clean news shows.
Duties include:
• Edit news video content to include Voice Overs, Opens, Packages, and Sound Bites.
• Information liaison between managers, producers and post-production of new workflows.
• Assist Editors, Producers & Managers with the creation of content
• Responsible for maintaining Dalet Workspace & storage.
• Responsible for Transcoding, Archiving, Restoring & Purging media in Dalet.
• Manage file workflows, ingest, metadata organization, and hardware issues.
• Ensure all ingested content has been correctly and accurately processed, this will include checking the technical and visual quality ingested asset, accurate entry of metadata and tracking of material IDs.
• Have a deep understanding of media workflow efficiency tools and train end users on how to use them.
• Advising managers and engineers of system irregularities and trouble-shooting irregularities.
• Collaborate with News, Entertainment, Sports & Scripted Media Managers and multiple ingest personnel to ensure proper workflows are followed and fulfill daily requests.
• Attend monthly NBCU all stations media operations meetings.
Fulfill music documentation records.
• And other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-year Media Management experience.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish communication proficiency.
- Experience with editing programs such as Dalet Galaxy or Adobe Premiere Pro or similar
- Management and organizational skills with attention to priority and detail.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology.
- Ability to effectively multi-task in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
- Team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Must be able to workdays, nights, weekends, overtime, and Holidays.
- Must be willing to work/relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Must be 18 years or older (if applicable).
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States (if applicable).
- Must have a valid driver’s license (if applicable).

Desired Characteristics:
• Knowledge in Dalet Galaxy Editor.
• Operational knowledge of HD video, file based workflows, ingest, QC and archiving of tape and file based content.
• Knowledge of file formats, i.e. MXF Op1A, Apple Pro-Res, 4k, H264, & AFF.
• Knowledge of quality compliance for broadcast standards.
• Strategic thinking and planning, decision-making and communication skills.
• Ability to create Standard Operations and Practices for workflows in editing and media management.
• In-depth knowledge of production operations, planning and management.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Advising managers and engineers of system irregularities and trouble-shooting irregularities.
