Job Summary:
This HVAC Lab Technician IV plays a pivotal role in validating new products including lab facility management and repair, test setups, performance testing, and continuous improvement. By leveraging their expertise in troubleshooting commercial HVAC equipment and by collaborating across the engineering department, they help bring our new products to market.
Where is the work:
This is an on-site position located at the Trane Technologies campus in Davidson, NC.
What you will do:
Lead by example in workplace safety, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Lead and train others to troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC systems and equipment including the lab facilities and products under test.
Lead installation, modification, troubleshooting and repair of developmental commercial HVAC equipment and components, following engineering, agency, and test requirements.
Lead product development activities by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting and reviewing experimental test data.
Work with engineers and other technicians to install and utilize laboratory test equipment including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devices.
Develop subject matter expertise in test standards and support the creation and improvement of test procedures.
Assist in the design or modification of test facilities to expand the test capabilities of Trane Technologies.
Mentor others on HVAC systems, refrigeration, instrumentation, and test processes.
What you will bring:
Candidates without a degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
Associate’s Degree in HVAC (or related technical field) and at least 8-years of relevant HVAC work experience is required; OR at least 12-years of relevant HVAC or compressor work experience is required.
Subject matter expertise in troubleshooting and repairing water-cooled and air-cooled chillers larger than 100 tons. Experience with subcritical CO2 systems a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
EPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certified.
Compensation:
Annual Pay Range: $60,500 - $126,200 USD. Disclaimer: This pay range is based on US national averages. Actual pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed.
