The Corporate Internal and Executive Communications team at Leidos plays a key role enabling business operations, driving employee engagement, and strengthening our culture of collaboration and innovation. We work closely with executive leaders and functional teams across the enterprise to develop and execute strategic, high-impact messages and communications campaigns that resonate with both internal and select external audiences.
Leidos is hiring a Communications Specialist to join our growing team in team in Reston, VA. This individual will support the strategy, development, and execution of integrated communications efforts that inform, engage, and inspire Leidos employees while contributing to broader corporate visibility and leadership messaging.
This position reports to the Director, Internal and Executive Communications and will work closely with teammates across Corporate Communications and the enterprise. The ideal candidate is an agile communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrates strong writing and editing skills, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities. This role requires a balance of creativity and attention to detail, with the ability to craft compelling content across a range of platforms and audiences.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute internal and select external communication initiatives in support of enterprise priorities, executive visibility, functional programs, and employee engagement.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to identify communication needs, develop messaging strategies, and deliver targeted content across appropriate channels.
- Create, edit, and manage a variety of content including announcements, executive messages, intranet articles, talking points, presentations, and event materials.
- Proactively manage and contribute to internal news hubs, intranet platforms, and communication vehicles to ensure timely, engaging, and relevant content.
- Support communications planning and execution for both virtual and in-person events, meetings, and leadership forums.
- Participate in cross-team collaboration to align on communication approaches, ensure message consistency, and support organizational change initiatives.
- Track and analyze communications performance metrics to assess impact and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in managing content review and approval workflows, ensuring accuracy, tone, and alignment with brand and business objectives.
- Contribute to broader Corporate Communications initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related roles.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail and tone.
- Experience creating content for digital platforms (e.g., intranet, email, presentations, video scripts, etc.).
- Basic HTML and content management system (CMS) skills preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
- Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working and producing deliverables independently and as part of multiple teams.
- Ability to curate and synthesize information into engaging and actionable deliverables.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office tools/programs, especially Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required based on key events or leadership needs.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in web design, development, and basic HTML.
- Prior internal communications and employee engagement experience.
- Knowledge of corporate communications best practices.
- Familiarity with and ability to follow AP style.
- Experience working for or with government contractors and/or technology solutions providers.
- Familiarity with web conferencing tools and platforms.
- Experience using collaborative software and workflow management tools.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
