What does a successful Developer / Application Analyst do?
The role works across the lifecycle of the system, working through ideas, concepts and forming requirements, solutions, and designs. You will be accountable for building and testing these designs and solutions and implement successful production deployment. You will be responsible for Regulatory and Compliance changes; Production Support and Incident Management; Consultancy and Projects/Change, as well as deployment of enhancements, new technology & products.
What you will do:
- Provide maintenance and development support for the application systems.
- Work with Solution Leads to assist with analysis and design of projects as needed.
- Development for medium to large scale projects or high priority nncident defects.
- Facilitate of the IT planning and estimating phases.
- Manage the delivery of business cases, scope and requirements documents, use-case documentation, test plans, and rollout communications.
- Act as primary liaison with program and Business Solutions during the development lifecycle from needs analysis and bug tracking to UAT and rollout.
- Develop and manage direct relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure the business solutions are aligned with their goals and priorities, and how process automation through IT solutions will help them reach their goals
- Balance the customer’s requirements with technical constraints (e.g., application size, network bandwidth, hardware/software/equipment selections) to ensure that the value of the project is realized. Clearly understand, articulate and document existing “as-is” systems & business architecture and define strategy for “to-be” architecture.
- Analyse and document requirements and use appropriate techniques to refine, decompose, review and validate requirements. Ensure requirements are traceable, well communicated and aligned to the overall business or solution vision.
What you will need to have:
- Few years application support and/or development experience.
- Strong programming skills required using CICS, COBOL, VSAM/IAM.
- Programming skills in COBOL and proficiency with IBM mainframe platform.
- Familiarity with a software design and development methodology.
- Detailed understanding of mainframe ZOS environment is essential including JCL.
- Familiarity with a scheduling tool like CA-7, Control-M or OPC is required.
- Experience in a solution, architecture, support & development role in the cards or payments industry.
- Demonstrated expertise using written & verbal communication skills to distil technology projects into understandable and compelling management level presentations.
What will be nice to have:
- Experience in card payment industry (Issuing and Acquiring) or payment industry in general.
- DB2 experience and skills.
- Java programming skills.
- Oracle/SQL database skills.
- JAR and/or EAR code management.
- JIRA an advantage.
