In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.
The Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Telecommunications Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Services (TOMS) Video IT Technician plays a vital role in providing services ensuring that our SRNS customers have the means to meet virtually through Teams and/or Webex from their offices or in a group setting such as a conference room. Your position will be vital in supporting the customer in providing IPTV services, maintenance support for telecommunications and network IT across multiple DOE and NNSA sites, driving operational excellence and mission success.
Responsibilities include:
• Daily operations of all IPTV Headend components and monitor IPTV reception which include ensuring reception of the channels.
• Understand and maintain satellite signal reception of three fixed and two steerable five-meter dishes.
• Understand and maintain off air signal UHF/VHF reception.
• Install and troubleshoot Video Teleconference Systems
• Install and troubleshoot IPTV units.
• Install and troubleshoot Efemto units.
• Install network fiber links to establish multi-mode/single mode fiber infrastructures.
• Troubleshoot and correct network problems experienced by customer.
• Install network equipment (Cisco), such as switches, hubs, and Wi-Fi
• Install equipment cables to complete horizontal cross-connections.
• Transfer users to newly installed network equipment and verify accessibility.
• Receive statements of work (SOWs) for SRNS video projects; implement and complete.
• Review and plan work schedules to accomplish tasks associated with SRNS SOWs.
• Uninstall CATV equipment and cables no longer required.
• Assist SRNS Video Network Engineers in troubleshooting problems with IPTV, VTC and Headend.
• Assist SRNS Media Services and Video Network Engineers in live and live stream events.
Requirements:
• Over 5 plus years of supporting video telecommunications, satellite and tower of air channel operations.
• Knowledge of headend reception and distribution.
• Knowledge in installing and troubleshooting Cisco Webex devices.
• Ability to terminate Cat 5e and Cat 6A cabling, video SDI/ BNC connectors and XLR audio connections.
• Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Computer knowledge with Word, Excel basic computer knowledge would be great.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to employee or others.
• Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization and our customers.
• Must be able to work overtime.
• Must be able to take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check.
• Must be able to obtain a clearance and must be a US citizen.
Clearance Required:
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy Clearance of L or higher.
Minimum Education:
• Associates degree or 5 years of work experience.

• 5 years
Preferred:
• Experience with Cisco Webex platform to include installing, maintaining and troubleshoot.
• Must be train customers on the basic operations of VTC, Teams, IPTV after installations.
