VP, Business Development Financial Institutions – CEE Hunter (primarily based in Poland; options to be located in Romania, Czech Republic or Hungary)
At Fiserv, we are looking for a VP, Business Development Financial Institutions to lead new business growth across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), with primary focus on Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and Hungary. The role will be primarily based in Poland, with options to be located in Romania, Czech Republic or Hungary. You will be a hunter — proactively identifying, engaging and closing opportunities with card issuers, merchant acquirers and other financial institutions across the region.
What a successful VP, Business Development Financial Institutions will do You will serve as the primary commercial and strategic contact for prospective clients in Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and Hungary and wider CEE markets. You will build trusted relationships at executive and operational levels, keep prospects informed about Fiserv offerings and payments innovation, identify market-fit opportunities and drive deals through to commercial close.
What you will do?
Develop and manage a strong pipeline of new opportunities with financial institutions (card issuers and merchant acquirers) across Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and Hungary and the wider CEE region to sell Fiserv solutions, with emphasis on issuer and acquirer processing.
Lead business and technology presentations, RFx responses and tailored demonstrations for regional prospects.
Configure competitive technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with cross-functional Fiserv teams, ensuring local regulatory, compliance and data residency requirements are addressed.
Lead commercial and contract negotiations from qualification through signing, engaging executive-level client stakeholders and relevant internal teams (technology, operations, compliance, finance and legal).
Build and maintain strategic relationships across the payments ecosystem, including banks, domestic regulators, local schemes and rails, processors, fintechs, system integrators and POS/terminal vendors.
Monitor CEE market trends, regulatory developments (e.g., PSD2, SEPA/instant payments) and competitive activity to advise internal teams and prospects on product fit and go-to-market strategy.
Represent Fiserv at local industry events and conferences and lead targeted business development activities across the region.
Coordinate with delivery and implementation partners to ensure feasible commercial commitments and realistic go-live plans.
What you will need to have?
Proven experience in sales, business development or product roles within payments or financial services, with demonstrated success selling to issuers and/or acquirers or to technology vendors.
Proven track record of winning new business and managing complex, end-to-end sales cycles in the CEE region; experience specifically in Poland, Romania, Czech Republic and Hungary is strongly preferred.
Strong commercial acumen and experience leading RFx processes and complex contract negotiations.
Customer-centric mindset, strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (required). Proficiency in Polish is recommended; knowledge of Romanian, Czech or Hungarian is a strong advantage.
Willingness and ability to travel across Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary and the wider CEE region as required.
Proficiency with CRM systems and standard office productivity tools.
Preferred
Knowledge of regional payment infrastructure and local schemes (for example BLIK in Poland), PSD2/open banking, SEPA instant payments and local clearing mechanisms.
Prior experience with issuer and acquirer processing platforms and integrations.
Existing relationships with banks, processors, system integrators and consulting firms in CEE markets.
