Business Continuity Planner
Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home dependent on business demands

The Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Business Continuity Planner to lead and mature our Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) in alignment with ISO 22301 standards. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring operational resilience internally and across our vast portfolio of programmes, safeguarding mission-critical services and infrastructure.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the BCMS in accordance with ISO 22301
- Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and risk assessments across all functions, programmes and bids ensuring alignment with contractual requirements.
- Design and maintain continuity and recovery strategies, including crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate and facilitate exercises and simulations, including tabletop and live scenario testing, to validate continuity plans.
- Monitor compliance and readiness, ensuring all plans meet internal audit standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external partners, including customers, regulatory bodies and special interest groups, to ensure continuity expectations are met.
- Report on BCMS performance, including metrics, gaps, and improvement actions, to senior leadership and governance boards.
- Stay current with evolving threats, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting business continuity throughout our business area
What do we need from you?
- Proven experience in business continuity planning within a defence, government, or critical infrastructure environment.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of ISO 22301 and related standards (e.g., ISO 27001).
- Strong understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery principles.
- Experience conducting BIAs, risk assessments, and continuity exercises.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant certification such as Certified Business Continuity Professional or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer/Auditor
- Member of the Business Continuity Institute
- Experience of governance, risk and compliance platforms and continuity planning tools.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).

Pay Range:
£53,700.00-£68,800.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
