Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Overview
CNBC International is seeking a versatile and resourceful Weekend Reporter/Editor to ensure our global business coverage is strong, fast, and distinctive throughout the week and into the weekend. This role is central to keeping CNBC competitive during peak market days and ensuring continuity of coverage over weekends, when big news often breaks.
Key Responsibilities
- Report and edit stories across business, markets, finance, tech, and geopolitics with speed and accuracy, ensuring CNBC remains first and authoritative.
- Take ownership of CNBC’s digital output across Saturdays and Sundays, setting the news agenda and ensuring the highest editorial standards when many competitors go quiet.
- Manage the CNBC.com homepage and breaking news pushes during weekends, making sharp editorial calls that prioritize impact, timeliness, and audience needs.
- Monitor wires, social, and market-moving developments closely, delivering sharp breaking news coverage tailored for CNBC’s global audience.
- Work closely with TV, social, and product teams to ensure breaking news and features are optimized for all platforms, strengthening CNBC’s multi-platform strategy.
- Use analytics and audience insights to prioritize stories that drive engagement, loyalty, and subscription growth over the weekend.
- Plan and oversee weekend content, ensuring a strong mix of breaking news, explainers, and smart features.
- Edit and commission pieces that complement fast-moving coverage, while coordinating with reporters and editors across CNBC International’s EMEA, APAC, and U.S. newsrooms to deliver seamless, global journalism.
Qualifications
- Solid newsroom experience as a reporter or editor, ideally in business, markets, or finance journalism.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn complex subjects into clear, engaging journalism.
- Strong news judgment, with a sharp eye for stories that resonate globally and drive engagement.
- Experience managing a homepage or front page, with a track record of making decisive editorial calls.
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools, analytics, and SEO best practices.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams and time zones.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing speed with accuracy and editorial authority.
- Audience-first mindset, with experience shaping content that can drive subscriptions and premium growth.
- Willingness to work a Saturday-Wednesday schedule on a consistent basis.
