The Mechanical Service Information Developer creates and maintains mechanical service repair and replacement procedures that support vehicle serviceability, warranty cost avoidance, and successful vehicle launches. This role partners closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, high-quality service information for Global and GM North America vehicle programs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop and author mechanical service information procedures and technical content across multiple vehicle systems, including Chassis, HVAC, Powertrain, Body, Interior, and Exterior
- Edit and maintain existing service content and assist with global content ownership resolution
- Create service graphics using CAD-based visualization tools and develop written procedures using structured authoring tools
- Organize and manage publication content by section, subsection, and information type
- Collaborate with Design and Process Technology teams to resolve engineering data and math availability issues
- Partner with cross-functional teams and suppliers to support cost reduction, product improvement, and process enhancement initiatives
- Provide technical guidance to support personnel as needed
- Communicate technical information clearly with internal and external stakeholders
- Stay current on emerging automotive technologies and industry best practices
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering , or equivalent technical experience
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and/or Arbortext
- Experience with CAD visualization techniques
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large data sets
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a production-driven environment while meeting delivery schedules

- Automotive technician experience, particularly in powertrain and/or chassis systems
- Dealership technician experience
- Technical writing experience in a structured or regulated environment
- Experience using Teamcenter or similar product lifecycle management (PLM) or CAD tools
- Familiarity with service documentation processes in an OEM or automotive environment
