Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direct supervision, the clinical student will apply their classroom knowledge in a healthcare setting. The position will provide student rotations, externships and exposure to skills and knowledge necessary in their respective clinical areas of study.
What you will do in this role:
- Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.
- Recognizes changes in patient condition and initiates activities to facilitate appropriate responses.
- Communicates the patient’s condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.
- Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
- Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plans and completing duties.
- Provides pertinent shift report to other members of the team.
- Make appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
- Consider all available options and make appropriate decisions.
- Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.
- Assists in the evaluation of patients for appropriate levels of care and communicates with others on health care team.
- Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.
- Evaluates patient progress considering the plan of care and coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes.
- Maintains harmonious relationships with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.
- Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.
- Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.
- Seeks and accepts input from Directors/ Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department’s harmony and service ability.
- Follows established procedures for all treatments, performance of procedures, and medication administration.
- Assures the patient treatment plan is followed.
