What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting decarbonization initiatives, including CO₂ roadmap development, maintenance, oversight, and modelling the impact of measures while guiding internal stakeholders.
- Managing GHG reporting, compliance monitoring, and performance management by ensuring data validity, overseeing external reporting and verification, and monitoring CO₂ performance.
- Managing the sales and purchase of CO₂ credits, including market tracking, projecting deficits/surpluses, developing trading strategies, and managing credit registry accounts.
- Conducting climate and environmental policy analysis and advocacy by maintaining expert understanding of policies, identifying risks, engaging policymakers, and supporting plant Environment staff.
- Leading project grant funding strategy and industry engagement by identifying technology, supporting sustainability project development and funding applications, managing funding program reporting, and representing the company in industry committees.
What We Are Looking For
- An engineering degree or equivalent with extensive understanding of cement manufacturing processes related to environmental compliance and sustainability.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations and global ESG frameworks.
- Experience with public and government relations.
- Expert understanding of sustainability‑focused technology.
- Ability to provide expert knowledge, advice, and guidance to internal partners and represent Heidelberg Materials in industry committees and external forums.
Work Environment
- Works within the BL Cement in the Northwest Region, reporting to the Vice President Cement Operations.
- Engages with internal stakeholders, plant Environment staff, policymakers, associations, funding agencies, and external forums as part of sustainability, policy, and industry activities.
