Job Overview
Join Komatsu as an EHS Specialist in Salt Lake City, UT! In this entry-level role, you will support Environmental Health and Safety initiatives across regional operations for a heavy equipment dealership. You’ll ensure compliance with federal, state, customer, and company EHS standards, and play a key part in supporting EHS culture.
You'll work with employees, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure safety and compliance with OSHA, MSHA, environmental law, and more. You'll schedule and conduct training, work on reports, and handle site and workplace inspections.
This job is based in our Salt Lake City, UT office, with up to 50% of your time out in the field, with travel across Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming. Travel is generally scheduled in advance, with occasional emergency safety needs after hours.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead EHS policies, procedures, and best management practices.
- Analyze, document, and communicate corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance, education, and mentoring to managers, supervisors, and employees.
Attend daily lineouts with operations teams
Conduct inspections, audits, facility walk‑throughs, and hazard assessments
Schedule and deliver established training programs including:
- Fall Protection
- Working at Heights
- Critical Risk Training
- Cardinal Rules
- New Hire Training
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention
- Environmental compliance
Serve as a resource to field teams and respond to occasional after-hours safety calls
Qualifications/Requirements
- 2+ years in the mining industry highly preferred
- 2+ years of EHS experience highly preferred but not required
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to geographic locations several hours away
- Ability to work in office, shop/warehouse, and field (mine-site) environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CRSP, or CMSP
- Prior experience of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.)
- OSHA 500 Train the Trainer or equivalent training expertise in DOT, EPA, hazardous communication, WHMIS, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, hoisting/rigging, aerial work platforms, and behavioral safety management
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation Claims Management and best practices.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $66,000 - $85,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
