Description:You will be the ElectroMechanical Software Development Engineer for the ModSTAR Automation team. Our team modernizes electromechanical design by building Python based applications, Zuken extensions and intuitive GUIs that automate harness routing, circuit card assembly and printed wire board workflows, driving affordability, repeatability and rapid product realization for missile programs.
What You Will Be Doing
As the ElectroMechanical Software Development Engineer you will design, develop and maintain software tools that bridge classic electromechanical engineering with modern automation. You will work side by side with Integrated Product Teams, subject matter experts and manufacturing to create and sustain Python applications, Zuken plugins and GUIs that streamline design to product initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing, coding, testing and documenting Python applications that interface with Zuken APIs to automate harness routing, component placement and BOM generation.
• Building custom graphical user interfaces that provide engineers with real time design calculators, visualization dashboards and usability focused workflows.
• Creating Zuken macros, plugins and scripts (using Zuken’s scripting language and Python) to streamline circuit card assembly (CCA) and printed wire board (PWB) calculators.
• Implementing reusable design library components for standard harnesses, connectors and cable assemblies.
• Integrating design assurance and production data sources to capture best practices and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborating with Integrated Product Teams, SMEs, manufacturing and sustainment to gather requirements, validate tool functionality and ensure alignment with program goals.
• Mentoring junior engineers on software development best practices, version control and configuration management processes.
• Establishing coding standards, producing software design definition (SDD) documents, user manuals, training videos and technical briefs to promote organization wide tool adoption.
• Maintaining documentation and version control in LM approved repositories and ensuring compliance with security and quality standards.
